After a small rant about the ineffectiveness of PowerPoint (he calls it WeakPoint . . .), Jeremy Barham gives a stimulating talk about the importance of breaking free from fear in relation to finances. Speaking of underlying motivations, he unmasks the poverty behind hoarding, on the one hand, and Christian 'magic' thinking on the other. SCV Basic Principles: Knowing God Is Better Than Knowing About Him

Peter Fitch recaps some of last week's teaching on cleansing the soul. Then he begins to speak about another foundational desire at SCV--getting to know God in deeper and deeper ways. He uses a book by Janet Hagberg and Robert Guelich called The Critical Journey: Stages in the Life of Faith to illustrate what spiritual formation is like for many people.
